How? Simply make sure the ground or floor is free of dust and grime.
Then lay down and align the vinyl floor graphic where you want it to go. It can be one single square or a contour-cut piece (the shape outline of a logo, image, icon, or arrow) if it’s a smaller sticker that is 40 inches in size or less.
Floor decal substrates come in rolls up to 40 inches wide, which means you can have one seamless section at this width. It can be up to 100 feet long, if not more.
However, if it is a huge logo or branded graphic like you see on basketball courts during tournament times, then you can lay each piece down in sections.
Once aligned, you simply peel off the adhesive back and apply the giant floor graphic in sections.
For example, if you have a large 20′ x 10′ contour-cut logo or event-branded floor sticker to align and apply:
It’s OK to use masking tape to tape down the edge of one section so it acts like a hinge.
You can then fold the face over (the masking tape holds the edge straight) and peel off the backing.
Slowly fold back the section over the flooring, going back and forth until the entire piece is in place.
Then align the next section and tape it down along its edge because the first section is in place and aligned as your starting point.
You can even use a little soapy water mix in case you want to re-align the graphic. Floor vinyl adhesive loves water and heat.
All floor graphics are laminated with a no-slip surface for safety, making them somewhat rigid and easy to work with. The over-lam keeps each piece or section from being flimsy.
If you clean the surface free of dust, use a little soapy water from a spray bottle (2 small drops of dish soap in a spray bottle full of water) and spray the exposed adhesive back before laying down a section or one piece, then you can easily peel it right back up if you make a mistake.
Once in place, use a handheld squeegee, pushing back and forth to remove the soapy water for a nice, clean, smooth look.
Plus, all floor graphic material is designed for easy removal. There will be no leftover residue or damage to your floor.
